Education in Canada
Education should be the most important feature every country should try focusing on. Without education students/ people will be lost in this world. Students are our future, we have to push them as we would to get a proper education and a career in the future. Socioeconomic is an important factor in education because students seem to being well in school regardless of their socioeconomic background. Families who are immigrants also have a hard time placing their students in a school that will allow them to learn. Lastly, school dropouts are also important when looking at education in Canada. It is important for families of Canadian students are teachers focus on each student's process in school.
In the past few years Canada’s test scores were not going up like they should be, their scores are falling behind other countries and while other countries are improving. Reading is Canada’s strongest test score, with the fifth overall score in other countries. In the article Canadian students perform well regardless of their socioeconomic status “students tend to perform well regardless of their own background or the school they attend” (Hammer). Top one reason Canada has not improve scores is because they are not using an expensive system to help students perform better. However, Canada has one of the world’s most equitable systems. Also, an important factor was the gap between boys and girls in their reading skills. Girls outperformed boys in every country including Canada. Canada is doing a better job in integrating immigrant students into their curriculum, while other countries are failing into doing the same system Canada has going on.
Helping parents place their students in a Canadian school is very complicated if they do not acquire a Canadian citizenship. By law Canada has to allow all students attend school regardless of their immigration status. Only one exception is allowed if a student is sick. in the article helping parents without immigration status get their children into school “The Ministry of Education has told school boards across the province that they cannot refuse to admit children only because their parents do not have immigration papers” (CLEO). Schools should not refuse a student's entrance to their school for not having the proper documentation such as insurance number or health insurance. Parents and students often don't seem to know the rights they have for being a Canadian resident.
Canadian students are dropping out of school was a big concern in the 1990s, without a diploma they do not receive the opportunity of a post-secondary education. Many of those dropouts can to occur because many families needed help economically and they couldn't do the jobs by themselves. Both men and women dropouts had decreased from from 19.2% for men and 14.0% for women in 1990-1991, to 9.7% for men and 5.9% for women in 2011-2012.

Socioeconomic is a risk factor in Canada that should affect education, however students are performing well. This image is an example of how much income men and women will receive at age 25 or older. This image was retrieved from the same website as the one I gathered the information I needed for this portion. As Canada continues to grow in population it is also reducing the amount of students who are drop-outs. Learning - School Drop-outs. (n.d.).
